Desi ghee is most beneficial when the milk is obtained from desi cow breeds. In India, it should be from breeds of cows like Gir, Sahiwal, Haryanvi, Red Sindhi, etc. The reason is that when a cow is raised in its natural habitat, the quality of milk obtained is superior to what is obtained when the same cow is bred in an area where she doesn’t belong.
